1920's Poseidon Reverse Carved Intaglio Ring mulltigem figures and other small objectsDATE: Art Deco, c. 1920 This wonderful antique ring is set with a lovely reverse carved purple glass intaglio, depicting the Greek God Poseidon. Poseidon, aka Neptune to the Romans, was the ancient god of the Sea and other waters, earthquakes, and horses. He was one of the Twelve Olympians, and is most often depicted holding a three pronged Trident. His origins can be traced back as far as the Bronze age, with the name appearing in Mycenaean Linear B
